BSi PAS 670 - Update 18 June ‘21

As many of you are aware MOBBTA has been working towards the development of a national standard for the performance specification of MgO-based building boards.

MOBBTA have been working with insurers, warranty providers, third-party verifiers, manufacturers, contractors, research labs and academic institutions, towards this goal. We are pleased to announce that, in association with the British Standards Institution (BSI), a new product assurance PAS (Publicly Available Specification) is now being developed for the purpose.

MOBBTA are now very happy to announce that the round of public consultation stage has now finished and BSI aim to publish the finished standard in the next 8-10 weeks.

Once again MOBBTA have been highly enthused by the response of key customers and stakeholders many of whom have expressed the need for good quality MgO boards in order to meet with the demands of modern methods of construction. It has become clear to MOBBTA that the multi-faceted benefits of good quality MgO boards are almost impossible to find in other cement based panel types.

BSi PAS 670 - Update 26 March ‘21

The PAS Steering Group has now signed off the Draft Standard, to move on the next stage which is public consultation.

BSi PAS 670 - Update 11th Feb ‘21

Following the latest steering group meeting (3rd February 2021) for PAS 670, we are now at Stage 3 of the process (see Previous Mobbta News Items) and it is anticipated that the upcoming Steering Group Review meeting will sign-off the Draft Standard for the Public Consultation and Review Panel stage of the process.

It is considered that the Steering Group, with wide academic and technical experience in the field, has been rigorous in performing its duties and it is expected that the Public Consultation and Review Panel will be carried out with equal diligence.
Mobbta will post on this website where interested parties may lodge their own comments as soon as the draft Standard has been opened for consultation and feedback.

The overall programme timetable is currently being updated however it is intended that the final PAS will come into effect during Summer 2021.
